Is the part decorative or structural in a heritage context? Grey iron has a strong track record in restoration work. Is cost a significant factor? Grey iron generally produces a more economical casting for lower-stress applications.

Can the Same Foundry Cast Both Grey and Ductile Iron?

Many foundries are equipped to work with both grades, though you should confirm this with your supplier.
